You will complete a combination of mandatory and optional units totalling 36 credits, which typically include:
1. Mandatory Units
- Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training (6 credits)
- Planning to Meet the Needs of Learners in Education and Training (3 credits)
- Delivering Education and Training (6 credits)
- Assessing Learners in Education and Training (6 credits)
- Using Resources for Education and Training (3 credits)
2. Optional Units
To complete the qualification requirements, you must also complete the 15-credit optional unit supplied by Britannia Qualify.
- Minimum age 19
- Competence in written and spoken English (Level 2 or equivalent recommended)
- Ideally you should have already achieved the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET)
- Access to teaching practice: ability to complete the minimum 30 hours of teaching in a real learning environment
- Portfolio of Evidence: Assignments, reflective journals, and teaching resources
- Teaching Practice: Minimum of 30 hours of real teaching practice in your subject area, observed and assessed by a qualified tutor or mentor
- Written and practical tasks to demonstrate knowledge, application, and reflective practice
- Progression to the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (DiT) (FE and Skills)
- Full teaching roles in FE colleges, adult education, and private training
- Specialist trainer or assessor positions
