This Award is a regulated Ofqual qualification and is made up of 2 units. The qualification is the standard, and most widely accepted qualification for those who work as an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) and is intended for those whose primary function is to monitor quality and internal quality assure the assessment processes and practice at a centre or organisation. This Award focuses purely on the operational IQA function, making it ideal for practitioners who are responsible for:
- -Sampling assessment decisions and evidence to check they are fair, reliable and consistent.
- -Standardisation activities to check assessors are applying standards consistently.
- -Checking compliance with internal quality assurance and external awarding organisation requirements.
- -Providing constructive and supportive feedback to assessors to maintain and improve quality.

1. Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment

-Includes concepts, roles, and techniques of sampling for quality assurance of assessment process.
-Assessed through written assignment
2. Internally assure the quality of assessment (practical)
-Includes practical requirements
-Enables you to apply quality assurance, techniques and strategies to assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.
-Assessment through record of performance, product of work, reports and written assignment.
Upon completion you will be able to understand, perform and analyse the quality assurance procedure of assessments in line with national standards.
- You should be at least 19 years old and possess a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy (equivalent to Level 2).
- Must have access to at least 2 assessors at workplace to fulfil he practical requirements of this course.
- Prior experience as an assessor (such as the Level 3 CAVA) is helpful but not mandatory.
The Level 4 Award in IQA directly qualifies you to work as an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA), significantly upgrading your career opportunities in vocational training and education.
- Lead Management or quality assurance procedures through opting to go for Level 4 Certificate in Leading IQA course.
- You can progress to the Level 4 Award/Certificate in External Quality Assurance (EQA), enabling you to work for Awarding Organisations and audit multiple centres.
- Take on Senior or Executive roles at work, such as, Quality Manager, Assessment Manager, or Training Manager.
- You can also progress to higher level qualifications such as a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills).
